Candidate Says Consultant Extorted Him

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CN) - An attorney says he lost a Rockland County election by 9 votes because his campaign consultant failed to make "RoboCalls" to voters until after noon on election day. Michael Dederich Jr. says that when he demanded his money back, as promised by contract, Mack Wright dba Win Your Race extorted him by threatening to make RoboCalls to voters calling him a deadbeat.

Wright runs his business out of Longwood, Fla. Dederich says Wright cold-called him, persuaded Dederich to hire him, and promised, "if we do not achieve, your calls are free."

Dederich says Wright used Dederich's credit cards to make the tardy calls. Dederich says he offered to pay half the bill, despite the late, ineffective calls. In response, eh says, Wright "informed plaintiff that defendant Wright would use RoboCalls to make 'deadbeat' calls to plaintiff's voter list, and that he would continue making such calls to resident to plaintiff's community until such time as plaintiff paid defendant Wright what defendant Wright demanded, in full."

Dederich demands punitive damages for defamation, breach of contract, negligence, false advertising and fraud. He represents himself in Federal Court.
