An Illinois state judge affirmed the election board’s dismissal of a complaint alleging a violation of the Campaign Disclosure Act by the 25th Ward Regular Democratic Organization. The legal fees paid by the committee on behalf of a candidate were not a personal debt, but rather fees incurred in defense of allegations of public corruption predicated on his status as a public official.
