California Superior Courts Get 9 New Judges

     SACRAMENTO (CN) — Gov. Jerry Brown has appointed nine new judges to California superior courts, seven of them in Los Angeles.
     These seven have been appointed to Los Angeles County Superior Court:
     Maria Andrea Davalos, 44, of Costa Mesa, has been a deputy district attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office since 2006.
     Dean Hansell, 64, of Los Angeles, was a partner at Dewey and LeBoeuf from 1988 to 2012, and since then has been a partner at Hogan Lovells.
     David Hizami, 49, of Encino, has been a deputy public defender at the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office since 1993.
     Lisa Jaskol, 56, of Los Angeles, has been directing attorney of Public Counsel Law Center’s Appellate Law Program since 2007, after 18 years in private practice and other public interest legal work.
     Andrew Kim, 42, of Irvine, has been a deputy district attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office since 1999.
     LaRonda McCoy, 55, has been head deputy at the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender’s Office since 2015, where she has worked since 1996.
     William Sadler, 52, of Santa Monica, has been a commissioner at Los Angeles County Superior Court since 2014, and was a deputy public defender at Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office from 1988 to 2014.
     Michelle Castillo, 47, of Camarillo, was appointed to the Ventura County Superior Court. She has been a commissioner at Ventura County Superior Court since 2014, and was a deputy public defender at the Ventura County Public Defender’s Office from 2005 to 2014 and at the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office from 2003 to 2005.
     Craig Van Rooyen, 49, of San Luis Obispo, was appointed to the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court. He has been a deputy district attorney at the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office since 2007, and was in private practice for seven years before that.
     California Superior Court judges are paid $189,041 a year.
