California Courts Must Disclose Names & Salaries Of Public Officers

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - The California Supreme Court ruled that names and salaries of peace officers and other public officers earning more than $100,000 must be publicly disclosed. In separate rulings, the court held that the information is neither protected by penal codes nor exempt under the California Public Records Act.

An engineers union sued the Superior Court of Alameda County, and the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training sued the Superior Court
