CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CN) - Commack Self-Service Kosher Meats claims Gov. Eliot Spitzer and his inspectors are unconstitutionally overriding rabbis' determinations of whether Commack's foods are kosher. Commack claims the state agents are not rabbis, are not trained in "what is or is not kosher in accordance with 'Orthodox Hebrew religious requirements,'" and should butt out and stop their inspections.
Commack claims it won a federal case to this effect in 2000.
