CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (CN) - Former Anheuser-Busch CEO August Busch IV will pay $1.5 million to settle a wrongful death claim for his girlfriend's accidental drug overdose at his suburban St. Louis mansion last December.
Cape Girardeau County Judge William Syler will review the settlement, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
Adrienne Martin was found dead in Busch's mansion in December. Autopsy results showed she died of an accidental overdose of oxycodone.
Martin's ex-husband, Dr. Kevin Martin, sued Busch in March on behalf of their 8-year-old son. The case was moved from St. Louis County Court to Cape Girardeau, where Kevin Martin lives.
Maurice Graham, a lawyer for Busch, told the Post-Dispatch that the settlement was not an admission of negligence, but an attempt to help Adrienne Martin's son.
No criminal charges were filed against Busch in Adrienne Martin's death.
