Bursting Ginger Brews Inspire Market Recall

MONROVIA, Calif (CN) - Citing reports of "bursting" unopened bottles of its Triple Ginger Brew, Trader Joe's is voluntarily recalling a month's worth of product.

The California company emphasized in a statement Tuesday through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that "no injuries or illnesses have been reported to date."

"Although the ginger brew does not pose a health risk if consumed, all product has been removed from store shelves and destroyed," the company said.

Trader Joe's said it is taking this precautionary action after having received "inquiries from customers that had experienced unopened bottles shattering or bursting."

Trader Joe's stores nationwide received the product, which is sold in green glass bottles.

"Customers who have purchased the Trader Joe's Triple Ginger Brew are encouraged to handle it with care and dispose of it immediately in an outside container," the company said.

Full refunds are available at Trader Joe's.
