ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A schoolteacher in North Carolina could not dodge a federal lawsuit brought by the mother of an 11-year-old student who was allegedly forced to stand in front of the class while the teacher humiliated him while he cried for about 35 minutes. The teacher apparently repeated the behavior when he forced the child to do jumping jacks, situps and pushups in front of his peers for half an hour. The mother’s evidence suffices to defeat the motion to dismiss.
