Bulgarians Least Productive People in EU

Bulgaria came in dead last in an EU report on productivity that showed huge disparities among the European nations. Ireland and the Netherlands recorded levels about 50% and 30% respectively above average, while Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Finland and Germany were between 15% and 25% above the EU27 average.

The proportional Gross Domestic Product in the European Union was highest in Luxemburg in 2007, where each inhabitant produced 267% of the EU's average individual GDP. Bulgaria has the lowest proportional GDP of the Union, with each individual only producing 37% of the average. Albania, which is not a member of the EU, reported the lowest of all European countries, at 24%.
