Brown v. Board of Education

An entity that maintains the historic elementary school whose rejection of black student Linda Brown led to the Supreme Court ruling in Brown v. Board of Education claims in court that the Southside Christian Palace Church W.R. Portee Evangelistic World Outreach violated its contract.

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Ward-Meade Neighborhood Improvement Association sued Southside Christian Palace Church W.R. Portee Evangelistic World Outreach, in Shawnee County Court, Kansas, claiming Southside violated its contract to maintain the closed, historic Sumner Elementary School, which rejected black student Linda Brown, leading to the Supreme Court ruling in Brown v. Board of Education.
