ATLANTA (CN) — An Atlanta judge ruled Friday that Bobbi Kristina Brown's boyfriend Nick Gordon is legally responsible for her 2015 death.
Gordon was a no-show at Fulton County Superior Court for the second time on Friday, and Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled in favor of Bobbi Kristina Brown's estate.
The daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found unconscious in a bathtub at her Roswell, Ga. home in January 2015, and Bobby Brown publicly accused Gordon of giving his daughter a deadly cocktail of drugs in a scheme to obtain her inheritance.
Bobbi Kristina Brown was kept in a medically induced coma and died at the age of 22 in hospice care in July 2015, a month after her conservator Bedelia Hargrove filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Gordon, who has maintained his innocence on social media.
In March, a medical examiner concluded that the cause of her death was being submerged in water and drug intoxication. Her death mirrors that of her mother, Whitney Houston, who was found dead and submerged in a bathtub after consuming drugs in 2012.
Bobbi Kristina Brown's estate is seeking $50 million in damages.
