LOS ANGELES (CN) - A former TMZ photographer is suing Britney Spears and her affiliate entities for running over his foot with her Mercedes when the pop princess barreled through a crowd of people during her 2007 mental breakdown, according to a complaint filed in Los Angeles on Friday.
Ricardo Mendoza says Spears, during a well publicized period of emotional turbulence, committed assault and battery when she ran over his foot in October of 2007 only hours after the star lost custody of her two young sons to now ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Mendoza alleges that members of Spears's entourage knew that the star was in no shape to drive but failed to stop her from taking the wheel.
According to TMZ's website, the company auctioned off their photog's tire stained sock and gave the proceeds to charity.
The incident happened in a parking structure in Beverly Hills and Mendoza says his foot was severely injured as a result of the star's negligence, causing him to lose money because he had to take time off of work. He is also suing for present and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, and legal fees.
