Brief Getaway Will End in Prison

GALENA, Mo. (CN) - A Missouri man will serve 5 years in prison for stealing a deputy's vehicle while handcuffed and leading police on a chase at more than 100 mph. Peter Olson, 37, of Galena, pleaded guilty to property damage, stealing, unlawful possession of a firearm and assault on a police officer.

Officers arrested Olson in July 2009 while investigating a break-in. When an officer left him handcuffed inside his Ford Explorer, Olson into the driver's seat and took off. He nearly hit two officers during his getaway before he was captured.

Galena is 250 miles southwest of St. Louis.
