KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CN) - The U.S. Senate confirmed Jackson County Circuit Judge Brian C. Wimes to the federal bench.
Wimes was confirmed Monday by 92-1 vote and will serve in the Western District of Missouri. The sole dissenting vote was cast by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah.
President Barack Obama nominated Wimes in September 2011.
Wimes joined the Jackson County Circuit Court in 2001 as a drug commissioner.
Gov. Matt Blunt appointed him to the circuit bench in 2007. He also worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Jackson County.
