Brain Tumor Forces Robert Novak to Retire

(CN) - Conservative columnist Robert Novak announced his immediate retirement from the Chicago Sun-Times following the diagnosis of a brain tumor that he described as "dire." Novak, 77, the longtime co-host of CNN's "Crossfire," drew criticism for outing CIA operative Valerie Plame in a 2003 column published shortly after Plame's husband, Joseph Wilson, criticized the Bush administration's justification for invading Iraq.
