Border Patrolman Get 3 Years for Child Porn

SAN DIEGO (CN) - A former Border Patrolman was sentenced Monday to 37 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography, theft of government property and interstate transportation of stolen goods.

Rodolfo Zuniga, 34, also must pay $9,938 in restitution and register as a sex offender, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Zuniga worked out of the Imperial Beach Border Patrol Station, from which he stole four sets of night-vision goggles and a GPS system, he admitted in his plea agreements. He sold the goggles to someone in China, through PayPal, for $9,938, and sold the GPS unit to a couple in New Jersey for $78. The government got the GPS unit back.

Federal agents discovered the child pornography on Zuniga's home computer when they raided his apartment in Chula Vista on June 29, 2012.
