SAN DIEGO (CN) - A Border Patrol supervisor faces up to 12 years in prison and $950,000 in fines after admitting he put a camera in a women's restroom drain and lied about it.
Armando Gonzalez, 46, of El Cajon, admitted he put the camera in a bathroom at the Chula Vista Border Patrol station to try to photograph women's genitals and butts. He also admitted he lied when he told his bosses he put the camera there to investigate one of his officers for suspicion of drug crimes, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Thursday.
Gonzalez admitted that he saved the film he took - in clips as long as 9 minutes -and tried to destroy evidence after he was questioned, prosecutors said.
He faces up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 for making false statements to a federal officer, and one year and a $100,000 fine on each of five counts of video voyeurism. His sentencing date has not been announced.
