Booted cars

ATLANTA — In a lawsuit brought against a shopping center and some of its tenants by a man who had to pay a $650 fee to remove a boot from his vehicle, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled there is no common law right that allows private property owners to immobilize vehicles that aren’t authorized to be on their property. The court noted the defendants had “other remedies” for such a trespass, including a statutory right of removal and impoundment.
