NEWARK (CN) - Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey defamed an insurance broker and harmed its business relationships by falsely accusing it of stealing $600,000 from its clients, of operating without a license, and claiming its female owners "solicited sex to obtain clients, and were taking illegal drugs," the competitor, Elite Benefits Corp. claims in Essex County Court.
Elite and its three owners - all of them women - demand punitive damages for defamation, trade libel, tortious interference, and emotional distress. They are represented by Eric Katz with Mazie, Slater, Katz & Freeman of Roseland.
