Blue Cross Accused of Age Bias

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (CN) - A 36-year employee claims he was not allowed to apply for a vice presidency at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas because "corporate documents indicate that age is used as a criterion in making decisions about advancements into senior management positions."

Fred Boston says he retired at age 60 in 2008 after being denied the opportunity to apply for the vice presidency in 2007. The job was given to a man who was 47.

Boston is represented in Federal Court by Kelly Kaufman of Topeka.
