HACKENSACK, N.J. (CN) - A class action claims Macy's and Bloomingdale's inflated the "original price" of an espresso maker, so they could "discount" it during a sale.
The complaint in Bergen County Superior Court claims that Nespresso D290 machine was displayed as having an "original price" of $625, though the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price was actually $499.
The complaint claims that Bloomingdale's never sold the machine for $625, "despite the representation by defendant that $625 was the item's regular price."
The class is represented by Harold M. Hoffman of Englewood, N.J.
