Blistering Bench at Cowboys Stadium

FORT WORTH (CN) - A Dallas Cowboys fan says in court that she suffered severe burns from a sun-scorched bench outside of the team's $1.3 billion stadium in Arlington.

Jennelle Carrillo, of Cleburne, Texas, sued the football team, owner Jerry Jones, Cowboys Stadium LP, Cowboys Stadium GP LLC, Blue & Silver Inc., and JWJ Corp. in Tarrant County Court. Before she went inside the stadium to watch a preseason intersquad scrimmage, she sat down on a black marble bench near entrance E, according to the complaint.

"The bench was uncovered and openly exposed to the extremely hot August sun," the complaint states. "The combination of the nature of the black, marble bench and the hot sunlight caused the bench to become extremely hot and unreasonably dangerous."

Carrillo says there were no signs to warn that the bench was too hot, nor was the area roped off to prevent fans from sitting there.

"As a result of sitting on the bench, plaintiff sustained third degree burns on her buttocks," the complaint states. "Those injuries required plaintiff to be admitted to the hospital and undergo skin grafts and other treatments for her burn injuries."

Carrillo is seeking actual damages for negligence. She is represented by Michael Wash in Austin.
