Blagojevich Says|He’s Out of Money

CHICAGO (CN) - Rod Blagojevich says his defense fund is out of money. In a Motion for Judgment of Acquittal, the former governor claims he's so broke he cannot even "procure copies of the official transcripts from trial." He also claims his constitutional rights were violated and his conviction "was obtained as a result of improper tactics and misconduct by government prosecutors."

The statements come from a 31-page Motion for Judgment of Acquittal, Arrest of Judgment or New Trial, filed in Federal Court.

Jurors convicted Blagojevich of just one of the 24 counts against him - lying to the FBI. A single juror held out on many of the charges, according to press reports based on interviews with jurors after the trial.

Retrial on the other 23 deadlocked charges is to begin in January.
