Black Student Says Cops Sodomized Him

OKLAHOMA CITY (CN) – A black student visiting a college that had recruited him for its football team claims Oklahoma City police arrested him due to his race and tortured him in custody, spitting on him and sodomizing him with a police baton.

In his state complaint, Kendrick Wilson claims he was walking on a public sidewalk in the Bricktown section of Oklahoma City with several Langston University students who were hosting him on his college visit, when police officers told them to “turn around and go home and don’t steal nothing on your way out.”
One of his student hosts responded that that was a “racist thing to say,” Wilson says in his complaint. He says an officer responded by jumping from his vehicle and grabbing Wilson, who was at the back of the group, slamming him to the ground and handcuffing him.
“The police officer then turned to one of his fellow students and said, ‘I dare you to do something!'” the complaint states. “During this exchange the officer used racial epithets and called the plaintiff, ‘Nigger.'”
Several other officers did nothing, the complaint states.
Wilson claims in the succeeding hours, he was taken to jail, stripped naked, and thrown into a cell with more than 20 other inmates, who threatened and taunted him.
He claims that after 2 hours of this treatment, the other inmates were removed from the cell, “leaving the plaintiff in the cell alone with the officers. At least three detention officers pushed the plaintiff, spit on him, held him down, and sodomized him using a baton,” according to the complaint.
Wilson says he was charged with disorderly conduct, which was dismissed when the arresting officers failed to show up in court.
He seeks punitive damages for constitutional violations.
Named as defendants are Oklahoma City and its police officers, the Oklahoma County Sheriff and detention officers and the county Board of Commissioners – but not the college.
Wilson is represented by Aletia Haynes Timmons with Timmons & Rhone.
