(CN) - Paul Quinn College, a private, historically black school in Dallas, can stay open while it pursues its federal lawsuit against the agency that stripped it of its accreditation in June, a federal judge in Atlanta ruled.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools stripped Paul Quinn's accreditation for failing to meet one academic and two financial standards. The school filed its federal lawsuit challenging the decision after its appeal was rejected.
A federal judge issued an injunction Thursday that restored the school's accreditation while it pursues its legal challenge.
The order allows the college to stay open and award degrees and financial aid.
Paul Quinn's fall term begins in October.
