Bieber Charged in LA for Egg-Tossing Exploit

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Canadian pop star Justin Bieber will face vandalism charges for allegedly throwing eggs at his neighbor's Calabasas residence, prosecutors said Wednesday morning.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced that Bieber, 20, will not attend his arraignment at the Superior Court in Van Nuys this afternoon.

Media outlets had a veritable field day this past January when the troubled singer was accused by a neighbor of causing thousands of dollars of damage to his house.

Investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reportedly searched Bieber's home and looked at video surveillance before bringing the charges.

The charges were the latest to sully Bieber's once squeaky-clean image. He has previously been accused of spitting in the face of a different neighbor and driving recklessly in the area. Prosecutors declined to pursue charges in either matter.

Shortly after the alleged egg-throwing incident, Beiber was arrested in Florida for allegedly driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with a license that had expired.

The pop star reportedly told police he was under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs. He was later released on a $2,500 bond, according to reports.

Charges in that case are pending.

Later that same month, Bieber was charged with assaulting a limo driver in Toronto.

His arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
