Bids Due Today For Chicago Cubs

CHICAGO (CN) - Bids for the Chicago Cubs baseball team are due by the end of today (Friday). One bidder told Reuters News Service that Major League Baseball has approved 10 potential bidders as owners groups. Tribune Co. is selling the team, and Wrigley Field, and its share in a TV network, together or in parts, to help pay down debt acquired when Sam Zell bought the Tribune group for $8.2 billion. The sale is expected to bring in $1 billion or more.
