Better for Chub?

WASHINGTON (CN) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to reclassify the Oregon chub from endangered to threatened.
The service has found that the recovery plan for the fish it adopted in 1998 has lead to substantial improvement in the population of the species, including 10 segments of over 500 adults that have been steadily increasing for the last five years.
The agency is seeking public comment on the proposal, particularly biological data including competition from non-native species and the risks associated with loss of genetic diversity in isolated populations.
