GERING, Neb. (CN) - A teen beauty contestant being introduced at the county fair was knocked down and injured by a raging bull who had slipped out of his pen, the girl's parents claim in court.
Jessica Littlejohn needed $28,910 in medical work, and counting, after the rodeo bull knocked her down from behind in August 2010, according to the complaint in Scotts Bluff County Court.
Littlejohn, who was being introduced to the crowd and waving, did not notice as the other contestants scattered, and the bull tossed her 7 feet into the air.
The attack, which was captured on film, did not stop Littlejohn from winning the title of Miss Scotts Bluff County.
The Littlejohn family sued Scotts Bluff County, its County Fair and Fair Board, the county Agriculture Society and the Scotts Bluff County Scholarship Fair Board Pageant. They seek medical expenses and damages for pain and suffering.
They are represented by Samuel Segrist, of Lincoln.
