DALLAS (CN) - A 19-year-old bank robber whose mother turned him in after seeing his photo on a Wanted website was sentenced Monday to 59 months in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Anthony Blue, 19, of Garland, Texas, pleaded guilty in January to three counts of bank robbery, prosecutors said in a statement.
Blue's first hit was the State Bank of Texas in Garland on June 14, 2011, prosecutors said. He handed a teller a note: "50's 100's and no body gets hurt, sorry," then fled with the money, according to the U.S. attorney's statement.
Later that day he held up the Community Bank in Rockwall, using the same note.
On July 8, he held up the American Nation Bank in Quinlan, using a note: "Empty Drawer 20's, 50's, 100's, 5 seconds," according to prosecutors' statement.
Shortly after the last holdup, Blue's mother contacted the FBI, after visiting bandittracker.com. She told the FBI that she believed her son had robbed the Garland and Rockwall banks.
FBI agents showed her and her husband surveillance photos from all three robberies, and they identified their son, prosecutors said.
