Bank Officer Charged With Swiping $865,000

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CN) - An Iowa bank officer was criminally charged this week with embezzling $864,835 from Country Bancorporation.

Heidi Wagler, 50, of Wayland, swiped the money from June 2004 until October 2013, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. The Sept. 21 criminal information accuses her of embezzlement by a bank officer.

She could be sentenced to 30 years in federal prison and restitution if she is convicted.

Her plea hearing and arraignment was set for Oct. 6.

Iowa media are reporting that she is expected to plead guilty that day.
