Band Members Sue Thelonious Monk Jr.

MANHATTAN (CN) - Bassist John Ore and drummer Francis Dunlop claim Thelonious Monk Jr. and Thelonious Records are profiting by selling and broadcasting tapes of their musical performances made from 1961 to 1963 as members of the Thelonious Monk Quartet. Ore and Dunlop claim they did not know Monk Sr. was recording the performances. They demand an accounting and damages, and also sue Peter Grain, CEO of Thelonious Records and brother in law of Monk Jr., in Federal Court.
