EL PASO, Texas (CN) - A former state court bailiff was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for taking bribes from at least 10 people and promising to manipulate court records to reduce their child support payments.
Juan Alfredo Rede took $2,000 to $2,500 from each victim, but the U.S. Attorney's Office said that "no court documents appear to have been manipulated."
Rede, 36, worked in the 383rd District Court in El Paso. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud.
