ST. LOUIS (CN) - Two men tried to rob Pooh's Corner around midnight Monday morning, but several off-duty police officers and the bartender, a retired police officer himself, were inside, the owner said. Shots were fired and one suspect was hit in the buttocks. Pooh's is a known cop hangout.

The off-duty cops held the wounded man until on-duty officers arrived, the bar owner said. The other man ran and is still on the loose, police said.

In 1995, an off-duty officer shot and killed a would-be robber in Pooh's.
