Bad Cop Sued|in Southern Illinois

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A Southern Illinois cop used a woman's cell phone number to ask for a blow job, to offer to drop charges in exchange for sex, and to send her a photo of his penis, the woman claims in court.

Jennifer Scholbe sued the City of Wood River and its police Officer Jeremy Elliott on Dec. 1 in Madison County Court. Wood River, pop. 10,500, in on the Mississippi River, north of St. Louis.

Scholbe claims in the lawsuit that Elliott got her cell phone number "during an arrest while on duty as a police officer."

He began sending her text messages on Aug. 15, 2013 from his city-issued cell phone, Scholbe says.

She says the messages included: "a. Offers to have criminal charges against plaintiff dismissed in exchange for sexual favors; b. a request for oral sex from the plaintiff; c. a photograph of defendant Elliott's genitals."

Scholbe claims that Elliott also watched a video of her being strip searched by a female officer.

Elliott was arrested on Aug. 29, 2013 and charged with official misconduct, and pleaded guilty on Aug. 12, 2014, according to the complaint.

Elliott was sentenced to probation and community service, according to Southern Illinois newspaper reports.

Scholbe seeks more than $50,000 in damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and civil rights violations.

She is represented by Janet L. Freeman of East Alton, Ill.
