Back off, Alabama tells Medicare

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (CN) — Back off, Alabama told the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The state, and all other states, received a letter demanding the "return" of the "federal share" of any damages, fines or penalties they received in Medicaid fraud lawsuits, though the states conducted the prosecutions "with little or no help from the federal government."

Alabama says demands in the Oct. 28 demand are unconstitutional.
