‘Avengers’ Leak Leads Marvel to Seek Subpoena

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Marvel asked a federal judge to subpoena Google regarding the leak of the film "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

The movie is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2015.

Walt Disney Company, Marvel's corporate parent, informed Google on Oct. 22 that the film was found on a Google Drive Account, according to the Nov. 4 request for a subpoena.

The infringing material was posted by user "John Gazelle," according to the court filing.

Marvel asked Google to "act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the infringing materials."

In the subpoena request, plaintiff MVL Film Finance seeks all identifying information for "John Gazelle," including on YouTube, as well as the IP addresses used to create the user's Google Drive account and the IP addresses from which the account was accessed between Sept. 22 and Oct. 22.
