Author Of ‘Girlfriends’ Guides’| Sues Random House

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Vicki Iovine claims Random House is violating her "Girlfriends' Guide" trademark by publishing a book by a competing author that uses the phrase in its title.

Iovine's book, "The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy," published in 1995, was following by seven or more similar books with similar titles. She claims Random house violated and diluted her trademark and falsely designated a book by competing author Amy Dubois Barnett, titled, "Get Yours! The Girlfriends' Guide t Having Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More." She demands damages and an injunction prohibiting Random House from selling, distributing, promoting or advertising any more books not by her that use the "Girlfriends' Guide" mark. She is represented in Federal Court by Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell. See complaint.
