Atchafalaya swamp

BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana environmentalists say a planned lake project in the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest river swamp in the U.S., would result in the loss of wetlands and crucial flood storage capacity. The environmentalists claim discussions for the project happened behind closed doors despite public opposition.
