Arrr! Restaurant Feud in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE (CN) - A Long John Silver's franchisee demands $1 million from its chief local competitor, Captain D's Seafood Kitchens, which allegedly ran newspaper ads saying, "With the closing of Long John Silvers we will honor any competitors coupons and be happy to serve you." But the franchisee says none of its restaurants closed in Knox County, where the ad ran; one did in Loudon County, but no ad ran there.

D-Sea, which owns and operates "numerous" Long John Silver's restaurants in Tennessee, says its primary retail competitor in Knox County is Captain D's Seafood Kitchens, owned and operated by defendants Sagittarius Restaurants and Captain D's.

D-Sea seeks $260,000 in damages for deceptive trade, misrepresentation, consumer law violations, and treble damages. It is represented by Stephen Irving of Oak Ridge, in Knox County Court.
