Arpaio Deputy Accused of Assault

PHOENIX (CN) – A man claims one of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s deputies assaulted him in jail and the attack was caught on surveillance tape.      Bryan Hamburg claims Maricopa County Sheriff’s “Deputy Linderoth” assaulted him on Dec. 24, 2010, and that the attack was caught on video surveillance and witnessed by other employees of the Sheriff’s Office.     Hamburg claims he “was not a threat to himself or others, and did no action to justify the use of force by defendant Linderoth.”     “An internal investigation was conducted against defendant Linderoth and it was concluded that his actions were not appropriate,” according to the complaint in Maricopa County Court.     Hamburg claims Sheriff Arpaio is vicariously liable for the assault and the injuries he suffered, and for failing to “exercise sufficient care in the hiring, screening, training and supervision” of Linderoth.     Linderoth’s first name is not mentioned, but his badge number is B0105, according to the complaint.     Hamburg seeks medical expenses and punitive damages for assault, negligence, and civil rights violations.     He is represented by David Greene with the Law Offices of Ho & Greene.
