Army Officer Gets 20 Years for Child Porn

RICHMOND, Va. (CN) - An Army lieutenant colonel was sentenced to 20 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to producing child pornography.

Prosecutors said Lt. Col. Steven Jon Frederiksen, who was attached to the Defense Intelligence Agency, used his work-related laptop to produce and store child pornography.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation began looking into Frederiksen about a year ago after receiving a tip about his activities.

On Tuesday he pleaded guilty to using messaging applications such as Kik to have sexually explicit conversations with underage girls.

Prosecutors said during these exchanged, he lured at least four of the minors to produce pornographic content for him.

He then stored the material in an online storage account.

Prosecutors said that in addition to keeping the sexually explicit photos of underage girls for his own use, Frederiksen also exchanged the images with others online.

The girls in the photos and video footage range from 14-17.

Frederiksen pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography and one count of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.

U.S. District Judge Gerald Bruce Lee sentenced Frederiksen to 20 years in prison and an additional 20 year sentence of supervised release.
