Arms Sales

WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Government plans to sell millions of dollars worth of missile launchers and ships to Turkey and armored 4x4s to the United Kingdom.

The Navy is prepared to sell $227 million worth of defense items and services to Turkey, including six missile launch systems, kits to upgrade frigates with missile launchers and four frigates, all for Evolved Sea Sparrow defense missile capability. Launch system software development and technical documentation comes with it. The principal defense contractor is Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors of Baltimore, Md. and Moorestown, N.J.

The Navy also plans to sell $125 million worth of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected 4x4 Cougar vehicles, and support items and personnel services to the United Kingdom for the "Global War on Terror." The principal defense contractor is Force Protection Industries, Inc., of Ladson, S.C.
