Arms Dealers Will Fight It Out In Court

MANHATTAN (CN) - A federal judge split the difference in a patent fight between two arms dealers. She granted summary judgment to Defense Technology's claim for one "low lethality" weapon, but allowed Combined Tactical Systems to proceed with its patent claim on a similar weapon.

All the weapons involved are beanbag or socklike rounds filled with lead shot, meant to disable victims rather than kill them, although sometimes they kill them. Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum ruled that there are disputed issues of fact in one of the claims.
