Armed and Drunk

The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld a man’s conviction for wielding a firearm while intoxicated, finding that he wasn’t acting in self-defense when he armed himself in his house during an argument with his roommates and that the state statute prohibiting drunk people from handling guns doesn’t “severely” burden his constitutional rights.

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld a man’s conviction for wielding a firearm while intoxicated, finding that he wasn’t acting in self-defense when he armed himself in his house during an argument with his roommates, and that the state statute prohibiting drunken people from handling guns doesn’t “severely” burden his constitutional rights.
