Arkansas can’t ban gender-affirming care for minors

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A federal court in Arkansas barred the state from enforcing a 2021 law keeping health professionals from providing “gender transition procedures” to anyone under 18 years of age, finding the statute violates patients’ equal protection rights, is too broad to escape due process concerns and violates doctors’ First Amendment right to make referrals to treat children’s gender dysphoria.
