COMMITMENT, ATTORNEYS - Jesse claimed challenged the lower court's refusal to allow him to represent himself at a hearing where he was involuntarily committed to a mental health facility.

The Arizona Court of Appeals found that although the trial court did not explore Jesse's request to represent himself, affidavits outlining his longtime mental schizoaffective disorder and his delusional behavior, and evidence that he did not have the education or experience to understand the proceeding, supported the denial of his request to represent himself.
