Apple Accused Of Illegally Tying iTunes And iPods

FORT LAUDERDALE (CN) - Apple monopolizes the online digital content business by illegally tying two product lines, iTunes and iPods, a class-action complaint claims in Broward County Court.

Lead plaintiff Frederick Black claims Apple controls more than 80 percent of the online music and video market through iTunes. He says Apple has made it impossible to transfer digital content bought from iTunes to any music or video players but iPods, and impossible to download digital content to an iPod from any other online vendor. Apple's deceptive and unfair business practices place an unconscionable burden on the class of more than 100,000 Florida consumers, Clark says. Represented in Broward County Court by Edward Curtis with Tripp Scott, he demands treble damages.
