SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CN) – An Illinois appellate court threw out two lawsuits accusing the University of Chicago of violating state law by getting rid of its controversial Chief Illiniwek mascot.
The court affirmed dismissal of lawsuits filed by former university mascots Dan Maloney and Logan Ponce, and by Champaign attorney John Gadau.
A university spokesman told the Champaign News Gazette that the University of Chicago is satisfied with the ruling.
