Appeals Court Blocks Indiana Sewer Expansion

INDIANAPOLIS (CN) - A state appeals court has blocked South Haven Sewer Works from expanding its sewage disposal site into rural areas of Porter County, Ind., without approval from the Environmental Protection Agency. Judge Riley reversed Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission's finding that the Valparaiso-based sewer company had the authority to expand its geographic service territory, despite a federal consent decree requiring EPA approval.
